State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing she has secured $50,000 in special state funding to pay for capital improvements in the Jefferson County Town of Lorraine.
Over the past 20 years, heavy equipment traffic, as well as everyday traffic, had caused significant damage, decay and erosion of the blacktop at the Town of Lorraine’s Municipal Building. Funding secured by Senator Ritchie allowed the town to make much needed repairs.
“For a small town like Lorraine, projects like these are a concern just due to the significant investment required,” said Senator Ritchie. “It’s extremely important to me that these smaller places, without big revenue streams, get the important help they need to enhance the quality of life for their residents.”
“The grant allowed us to repave the driveway and parking lot, making it safer for visitors and our equipment,” said Town of Lorraine Supervisor Vince Moore. “We are appreciative of the Senator's assistance and support in awarding the Town of Lorraine this grant.”
The release of this funding is subject to state approval.
