State Senator Rob Ortt (R,C,I – North Tonawanda) and Assemblyman Angelo J. Morinello (R,C,I, Ref – Niagara Falls) today issued the statement below following the Governor’s canceled meeting with the Seneca Nation of Indians last Thursday. Click here to read the letter from Seneca President Todd Gates.
“While we understand the urgency of the state’s transit emergency in New York City, there’s another major state-generated crisis here in Western New York. We respectfully urge the Governor to prioritize compact negotiations with the Seneca Nation of Indians. Without critical revenue sharing proceeds, community non-profits and local governments will continue to see dramatic cuts to education, health care, and public protection.”
