Last month, I was proud to join my Senate colleague Brad Hoylman, along with tenants and advocates to rally in support of stronger rent laws. The rally was an opportunity for constituents to join together with their elected officials to fight against the current loopholes that have contributed to the growing housing affordability crisis in New York.

My bill S1593, would remove the Vacancy Bonus, which is a direct threat to affordable housing in New York City. Other pieces of affordable housing legislation include S6527, sponsored by Senator Krueger, which will reform preferential rent, and S3482, sponsored by Senator Stewart-Cousins, which is focused on ending vacancy decontrol.
