Griffo statement on repeal of Governor’s COVID-19 directives
April 28, 2021
Sen. Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, released the following statement today regarding the state Legislature’s repeal of several of the Governor’s directives that were issued during the coronavirus pandemic:
“Following persistent and consistent urging from myself and my conference, the legislative majorities are finally taking action to repeal several of the Governor’s pandemic-related directives. It should not have to take this long and it would not have taken so long if the majorities had simply done what we had originally requested and undertaken a full, clean and outright repeal of the Governor’s extraordinary powers. Many of the orders issued during the coronavirus pandemic have been arbitrary and inconsistent, and the executive has demonstrated an inability to justify or address the clinical and scientific purpose behind many of these directives.”
