STATEMENT FROM SENATOR SUE SERINO
February 15, 2021
HYDE PARK, NY— Senator Sue Serino released the statement below in response to the Governor’s press conference detailing his perspective pertaining to the COVID crisis in New York’s nursing homes:
“Once again, missing from today’s slideshow was a clear and direct ‘I’m sorry’ to the vulnerable residents and loved ones who have been impacted by the state’s handling of the COVID crisis in our nursing homes.
If the Governor is so secure in the facts he presented today, then he should have no reason to oppose a thorough, independent investigation to verify them. Today’s press conference only makes it more clear that we need an independent investigation now more than ever, and we will not stop pushing for the transparency, accountability, and improved solutions these residents and their loved ones deserved from day one.”
Senator Serino is the Ranking Member of the NYS Senate's Aging Committee.
