State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal said: “Today’s vote on the nomination of Justice Hector LaSalle was an affirmation of the deliberative work and committee process in the State Senate. On January 18, the Judiciary Committee spent nearly five hours in a public hearing reviewing Justice LaSalle’s qualifications. Now the full Senate has reiterated our rejection of the nominee. I look forward to working with Governor Hochul and my Senate colleagues in providing feedback as she begins the process of choosing a new nominee for Chief Judge. Thankfully, we will now return to the work at hand, including negotiating the $227 billion state budget over the next six weeks, and help improve the lives of our constituents.”
