Statement from State Senator Christopher J. Ryan Regarding the Violence Against Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman

“I am horrified and deeply saddened by the assassination of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as the attempted assassination of Senator John Hoffman and his wife.

Violence has no place in our politics or our society. Public servants and their families should never have to fear for their lives because of the work they do. Let me be clear: these abhorrent acts are attacks on public service, democracy, and the safety we all deserve in our communities. I stand in full solidarity with my colleagues in Minnesota, and I pray for the healing and strength of everyone impacted by these senseless and cowardly acts.“
