Senate Republican Leader Rob Ortt on the Passing of the Use of Crossbows For Hunting Bill
August 27, 2025
The Use of Crossbows for Hunting Bill (Senate Bill S.6360A) is a big win for the entire state - hunters and sportsmen have been fighting for years to bring about long overdue changes and expand the crossbow hunting season. New York State regulations regarding crossbows have been outdated for some time, despite technological advances in crossbow manufacturing. This bill will not only address obsolete provisions, but have the added bonus of acting as an excellent way to retain and recruit new sportsmen, and I thank all involved for getting this legislation to the finish line.
