Senator Ryan Honors Manlius Cinema with State Award

State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (NY-50) today honored Manlius Cinema with an Empire Award, which is given to businesses that achieve a high level of excellence and contribute to the betterment of their community. Manlius Cinema opened its doors in 1918, and has previously been inducted into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry.

“The Manlius Cinema has been a pillar of the community for over a century,” said Senator Ryan. “Over the course of their history, they have created countless memories for thousands of local residents and tourists, contributing to the charm and comfort that make Central New York so great. It is a privilege to honor a business that has committed itself to our region for such a long time.”

“Manlius Cinema is an institution in our village and has been the cornerstone of our downtown for more than a century,” said Village Mayor Hank Chapman.  “They are also a key part of our recent main street revitalization and are the anchor of our Arts and Entertainment District.  I can think of no one more deserving of this honor than the Manlius Cinema.”

Manlius Cinema General Manager Derek Walter said, “We are humbled by, and grateful for this award. Not just for the recognition, but for the good fortune to be a part of such a kind and supportive community. Whether you come to escape reality with the latest blockbuster, re-live the past with a classic, or expand your mind with a thoughtful documentary, we are proud to provide that opportunity. Recognition such as this strengthens our commitment to bringing the best cinematic experience for generations to come.”
