State Senator Christopher J. Ryan today awarded a New York State Senate Commendation Award to Lisa Romano Moore in recognition of her decades of service, leadership and dedication to the Central New York community.
Moore currently serves as Executive Director of the Onondaga Historical Association and has spent more than three decades supporting nonprofit organizations, educational institutions and community initiatives through fundraising, development and public engagement.
“Lisa has dedicated her career to strengthening institutions that enrich the lives of Central New Yorkers,” said Senator Ryan. “From higher education and community foundations to historic preservation and nonprofit leadership, Lisa’s impact can be seen across our region. Her passion for service, commitment to community, and tireless advocacy for organizations that make Central New York stronger make her truly deserving of this recognition.”
A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Moore began her career in development work at her alma mater before going on to serve in leadership and fundraising roles at institutions including Ithaca College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Syracuse University, the Onondaga Community College Foundation, the Central New York Community Foundation, and the Say Yes to Education initiative.
Throughout her career, Moore has led efforts in annual giving, major and planned giving, capital campaigns, corporate and foundation relations, and special events. Her lifelong passion for philanthropy began in childhood, organizing backyard fundraisers for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Moore has volunteered extensively throughout the community. She has served on the boards of the American Lung Association, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and On Point for College. She currently serves as a trustee of the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville and the Seward House Museum.
Moore is also a graduate of Leadership Greater Syracuse and has been recognized with the Central New York Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 and Women in Business awards.
This award was presented during the OHA’s annual Medal Breakfast by Senator Ryan’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Communications Brooke Schneider.
