Sen. Jabari Brisport stands with New Yorkers celebrating the launch of 2-K on March 3, 2026
NEW YORK, NY — On Tuesday, March 3rd, Sen. Jabari Brisport joined Mayor Zohran Mamdani for the announcement of the 2-K program rollout districts. The first phase of the 2-K rollout this fall will include four Brooklyn neighborhoods: Brownsville, Ocean Hill, Remsen Village, Canarsie.
Sen. Brisport, sponsor of the Universal Child Care Act, and representative for the included neighborhoods of Ocean Hill and Brownsville, said “after years of fighting for universal child care, we finally have a mayor who’s fighting alongside us — and we’re seeing the impact of that. I look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Mamdani, parents, and child care providers to win full universal child care for every family in New York.”
The first phase of the rollout will provide free child care for 2,000 two-year-olds starting this fall, and expand to 12,000 children by fall of 2027.
