Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. hosted a prostate screening event at his District Office in Woodhaven on September 19, 2026, in partnership with Northwell Long Island Jewish Forest Hills to commemorate Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and raise awareness about prostate cancer and the importance of regular screenings.

Senator Addabbo was joined by Lorraine Chambers Lewis, President of Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, and other Northwell Health staffers for the event which helped many constituents in the community. The screening involved a simple PSA blood test.

“Hosting prostate screenings at my district offices is important to me because it makes getting checked a lot easier for my constituents right here in the community. A lot of men want to take care of their health, but they may not be able to travel or find the time—so having this locally helps remove those barriers. Prostate cancer can be serious, and early detection makes a real difference.”

Prostate cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in American men aside from skin cancer, and 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed during his lifetime, according to Dr. Jane Cho, a board-certified urologist with Northwell Health.
