ATLANTIC BEACH, NY - Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick visited the Sun & Surf Beach Club this afternoon to speak with Beach Club management and assess the damage firsthand.
Sun & Surf Beach Club was struck by a tornado on Thursday, August 20th at approximately 7:00 PM. The tornado left multiple cabanas destroyed, and caused extensive damage to beach club facilities.
“I am thankful that no major injuries have been reported as a result of this storm,” said Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick. “Damage this significant can happen in a matter of moments, and I am extremely grateful to our numerous volunteer fire departments and other first responders on scene, and to our Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman for declaring a state of emergency and mobilizing the Emergency Operations Center to ensure the safety of all residents who needed assistance during last night's storm.”
Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick commended the dedication of Sun & Surf staff and management, who have been working tirelessly to clear debris and begin repairs in hopes of reopening the beach club as quickly as possible. In addition to today's visit, the Senator's office, along with the office of Assemblyman Ari Brown, sent a letter to Sun & Surf management expressing their support for the beach club and offering their assistance throughout this difficult time.
