Staten Island Seamen’s Society lands $500K state grant to modernize technology, expand services

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton has secured $500,000 for the Seamen’s Society for Children and Families to modernize the organization’s technology infrastructure and expand its capacity to serve Staten Island’s vulnerable children and families.
The funding will replace outdated systems, implement enhanced cybersecurity measures and improve connectivity across programs at the 178-year-old nonprofit, which provides child welfare programs, behavioral health support and family services.
“I am proud to have secured $500,000 for the Seamen’s Society for Children and Families, which has been a cornerstone of support for Staten Island residents for generations,” said Scarcella-Spanton, a Democrat who represents the North Shore and parts of southern Brooklyn. “This funding will help ensure the organization has the modern technology required to continue delivering high-quality services while adapting to the evolving needs of our community.”
