Statement on Lack of Rockaway Ferry Funding

I'm disappointed to learn of the de Blasio administration's decision to stop the funding flow to the Rockaway Ferry, docking it officially in October. However, I do not feel this fight is over.
I believe in a budget of $75 Billion, the city can find the fractional money needed to keep the ferry afloat permanently. We must come together and advocate for the ferry service and show the mayor what an asset it is to our community and everyday lives.
We have been fighting for this service for years and now it's time to fight even harder. I look forward to working with my colleagues in government and neighbors to secure the ferry service for the Rockaways.
