Addabbo Announces Final Legislative Approval of Bill Requiring Monthly Sports Betting Account Statements for Bettors
June 8, 2026
Queens, NY (June 7, 2026) NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., Chair of the Senate Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wagering, announced legislative approval of his legislation (S.9415) that would require mobile sports wagering operators to provide bettors with monthly account activity statements detailing their wagering activity and responsible gaming resources. The bill has now passed both the Senate and Assembly and awaits action by the Governor.
As mobile sports wagering continues to grow throughout New York State, the legislation represents a common-sense consumer protection designed to help bettors personally monitor their gambling activity.
“New York has become a national leader in mobile sports wagering, but with that success comes a responsibility to ensure consumers have the tools they need to make informed decisions,” said Addabbo. “This legislation is about transparency, accountability, and responsible gaming. Just as consumers receive monthly statements from banks and credit card companies, sports bettors should have access to a report of their betting activity to help make informed choices.”
Under S.9415, mobile sports wagering operators would be required to provide authorized sports bettors with monthly electronic statements that include total deposits, total wagers placed, winnings and losses, net gains or losses, the number of wagers placed, total time spent logged into wagering platforms, promotional credits used, and access to lifetime wagering history. The statements would also prominently feature information about responsible gaming resources, including voluntary self-exclusion programs and problem gambling assistance services.
The legislation further directs the New York State Gaming Commission to establish standardized formatting requirements to ensure the statements are clear, accessible, and easy to understand.
“Too often, bettors must sift through transaction histories and multiple account screens to determine how much they have wagered or lost over time,” Addabbo said. “A monthly statement will provide information to bettors that can help them recognize patterns, assess their spending, and identify potential warning signs before problems escalate.”
As Chair of the Senate Committee on Racing, Gaming, and Wagering, Addabbo has consistently advocated for balancing the economic benefits generated by gaming activities with strong consumer protections and responsible gaming initiatives.
“This bill does not limit anyone’s ability to participate in legal sports wagering,” Addabbo added. “Instead, it enhances consumer protections and ensures transparency remains a top priority of New York’s mobile wagering industry. By making wagering activity easier to track and responsible gaming resources easier to access, we can continue to support a safe and sustainable gaming environment for all New Yorkers.”
