Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. partnered with the City Parks Foundation, to bring its PuppetMobile to PS 60 in Woodhaven on October 6, 2026, for a presentation of Pinocchio and Geppetto’s Big Apple Adventure, a reimaging of the Disney classic.

Over 500 children from 3k to 2nd Grade enjoyed the 45-minute outdoor show held in the schoolyard, which is adjacent to the Equity Park. Parents also attended the event, and it was open to the public. The PuppetMobile is a free traveling puppet theater that tours parks, playgrounds, recreation centers, and schoolyards across all five boroughs.

“It’s great to see children get so happy when their imaginations are engaged, opening doors to new ways of thinking, learning, and discovering the world around them,” Senator Addabbo said. “Marionettes make storytelling come alive in a very memorable way.”

The story follows Geppetto, portrayed as a young inventor who builds a robot best friend named Pinocchio. Together, they travel to local spots across the city from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre in Central Park to the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park. They are assisted by the whimsical Jiminy Cricket and along the way Pinocchio learns the true meaning of friendship.

Senator Addabbo extends his thanks to the City Parks Foundation, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, PS 60 Principal Lisa Kelly, and the entire PS 60 staff for helping make the event possible.
