NYC bars join drink‑cover program to curb drug spiking on St. Patrick’s Day
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — Several Staten Island bars will take part in a drug‑spiking prevention pilot program during St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrations along Forest Avenue.
State Sen. Jessica Scarcella‑Spanton launched the initiative last month to boost public safety during the annual festivities.
Scarcella‑Spanton said safety “must always be at the forefront of any large‑scale event,” adding that the parade is “a day filled with celebration” and that the drink‑cover program provides “an extra layer of protection to give people peace of mind.”
